In this tutorial, we explain how to install LLMP on Ubuntu.
If you are looking for an alternative to LAMP and LEMP, LLMP is a good solution.
LLMP is an open-source web platform used to run websites and dynamic servers. It includes Linux, Lighttpd, MariaDB, and PHP.
Below, we explain how to install Lighttpd, MariaDB, and PHP on a cloud server.
How to install Lighttpd
Install Lighttpd by running this command:
# apt install lighttpdOnce it is installed, run this command to start it:
# service lighttpd startAfter starting it, check your website and the Lighttpd welcome page will appear:
How to install MariaDB
To install MariaDB, you need to install mariadb-server and mariadb-client:
# apt-get install mariadb-server mariadb-clientOnce this is done, configure MariaDB by running this command:
# /usr/bin/mysql_secure_installationThe console will ask you for the password. This is not essential; you can leave it blank. Next, it will ask whether you want to change the password. You are free to decide; simply type YES if you want to do so and NO if you do not want to change it.
In the next steps, you can answer YES to all the questions, since they are all intended to remove some anonymous and test databases, and also to eliminate their vulnerabilities.
You have successfully installed MariaDB.
How to install PHP
You can do this by running the command:
# apt install php php-cli php-mysqlNow restart Lighttpd:
# service lighttpd restartYou have successfully installed LLMP on Ubuntu.
