On Clouding you have access to the pre-installed Prestashop 1.7 image, below we show you a tutorial with all the steps to install the e-commerce platform Prestashop 1.7.
Prestashop is a free and open-source content management system (CMS). It is currently used more widely than Magento, WooCommerce,… Prestashop boasts more than 310 features; you can see all the features on the Prestashop website.
Preparing the server for Prestashop
Prestashop does not require many resources; to start, we can use it on a server with 1GB of RAM, 1 Core and 25GB of disk space.
We need to follow the steps in the article install LAMP except for the PHP installation; we will use these commands:
# a2enmod rewrite
# add-apt-repository universe
# apt-get install php libapache2-mod-php php-cli php-mysql php-mcrypt php-zip php-ldap php-curl php-gd php-odbc php-pear php-xml php-xmlrpc php-mbstring php-snmp php-soap php-intl curl
# service apache2 restart
Creating the Database
We log in to MySQL with the user root:
# mysql -u root
We create the database for Prestashop, a user, and configure the permissions. For this tutorial, we have decided to name both the database and the user prestashop. Replace p4ssw0rd with a secure password.
CREATE DATABASE prestashop;
CREATE USER 'prestashop' IDENTIFIED BY 'p4ssw0rd';
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON prestashop.* TO 'prestashop';
We exit the MySQL shell:
quit
Installing Prestashop
Once we have configured the web server, it is time to install Prestashop on it. We will go to the Prestashop website, download the latest version and unzip it:
# cd /var/www/html
# rm index.html
# wget https://download.prestashop.com/download/releases/prestashop_1.7.8.0.zip
# unzip prestashop.zip
# rm prestashop.zip
# chown -R www-data:www-data ./*
We can now use our browser to access the server's IP address or the domain where we want to install Prestashop; we will see the wizard for installing Presatashop.
In the first step, we will choose the language
In the second step, we will accept the license: Acepto los términos y condiciones arriba indicados
In the third step, we will check that we meet the requirements: Compatibilidad del sistema
In the fourth step, we will provide the store information
In the fifth step, we will enter the details for the Database we created earlier and click to check them; if everything is correct, we will continue with the installation.
In the sixth step, our Prestashop is installed; we will see a progress bar like this
When the installation finishes, we will see the following screen
When the installation finishes, before accessing the store or administrator, we need to run:
# rm install* -rf
# mv admin admin247gtw1r9
We now have everything we need to use Prestashop; to access the Prestashop Administrator we will go to http://IP-Servidor/admin247gtw1r9
