Some of our customers have decided to use Odoo as an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning system). Odoo works very well on our Cloud Servers and in this tutorial we want to explain how to install it step by step on an Ubuntu or Debian machine.
To avoid performing the installation manually, preinstalled Odoo images are also available on Clouding:
- Preinstalled Odoo 19 image
- Preinstalled Odoo 18 image
- Preinstalled Odoo 17 image
- Preinstalled Odoo 16 image
- Preinstalled Odoo 15 image
- Preinstalled Odoo 14 image
- Preinstalled Odoo 13.x, 12.x or 11.x image
This gives you a server with the latest version of Odoo from the repository and the Proxy set up with NGINX in just one step.
Odoo provides three versions: Online, Community and Enterprise.
- Online: This version cannot be installed on our servers, as it is a special Odoo plan that uses their servers to host the ERP. It offers different plans that are fully configurable. The price for 1 user is 12€, and you can then select the Applications you want to install, each with a different price depending on the application.
- Community: This version of Odoo is maintained by the community and has a series of packages that can be a solution for small and medium-sized businesses. If you want to see everything this version offers, you can visit this website. It is free of charge.
- Enterprise: This version of Odoo is the most complete and costs approximately 1000€. You can see a feature comparison with the Community version here.
We will focus on the last two versions, as they are self-hosted plans.

# apt-get update
Install Odoo from the repositories:
# apt-get install odoo -y
Installing Odoo [Enterprise]
Install PostgreSQL for the Odoo database:
# apt-get install postgresql -y
Once you have purchased the product, you can download DEB packages to install on Ubuntu:
# dpkg -i *.deb
The previous step may fail because some dependencies are missing. You will need to install them:
# apt-get install -f
Now, with the dependencies installed, install the packages again:
# dpkg -i *.deb
Once the entire process is complete, you can proceed with the installation by accessing the following address from a browser: http://46.183.XXX.XXX:8069 (replace the IP with your server's IP). Remember that you must open port 8069 in your Firewall profile.
We will create a new database:
Once it is created, a section will open where you can install the features for our Odoo (if you forget to install any, don't worry, they can easily be added later).
We hope this tutorial has helped you 🙂. Remember, if you have questions about this or any other matter related to your servers on Clouding, feel free to write to soporte@clouding.io We're here for whatever you need!
