All cloud servers hosted at Clouding have a firewall that you can easily manage from your control panel.
This firewall resides on the platform and is independent of your cloud server.
Default firewall
By default, when creating your account, you have a default firewall profile, which includes the most common ports that you'll usually need to work.
Configurable firewall
You can create new firewall profiles and open all the ports you need, from TCP or UDP ports, as well as open more advanced protocols such as ICMP, GRE, L2TP, AH, etc.
You can also define access for different IP addresses. In each rule you can configure a source IP -or a range of IPs through a mask-, and a protocol and range of ports if it is supported by the protocol.
You can assign a profile to several servers - which is very useful for standardizing configurations - and assign several different profiles to a server - to deal with exceptions.
Firewall type
The firewall included in the platform is a state firewall. This means you only need to open the port of entry, you don't have to configure rules for the return traffic related to that port.
As well as this, it can only be used to manage inbound traffic from the internet to your cloud server, if you need for example to limit outbound traffic from your cloud server to the internet, you can always use the Firewall of the operating system itself without any limitation, or your preferred firewalling software.
Limited or closed ports
At Clouding we do not believe in limitations, since we consider that you should be able to use your server without restrictions, so we do not limit access to ports or services.
