There are two methods for enabling Apache modules.
Below we will explain both methods, but in either case you will need to connect via SSH to your Cloud VPS Server to run the commands needed to enable the Apache modules you want.
The modules may not be available in the mods-available directory; this means they are not installed on the server.
Once you are logged in to the server, you will need to choose one of the following options:
The first option would be to create a symbolic link to the .load and .conf (if it exists) files from the folder
/etc/apache2/mods-available/ to /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/.
You can do this with the commands in the following example:
# ln -s /etc/apache2/mods-available/deflate.load /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/deflate.load
# ln -s /etc/apache2/mods-available/deflate.conf /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/deflate.confAlternatively, the other option would be to run the command:
# a2enmod deflateThe output on the screen should be as follows:
Enabling module deflate.
Run '/etc/init.d/apache2 restart' to activate new configuration.Likewise, you can disable a module with the command:
# a2dismod deflateIn both cases, you need to restart Apache as indicated in the message that appears when you enable the module. You can do this with the command:
# /etc/init.d/apache2 restart
