Modoboa is an email hosting and management platform that includes a modern, streamlined web user interface. It provides useful components such as an administration panel and webmail. It integrates with well-known software such as Postfix and Dovecot. It uses an SQL database (MySQL, PostgreSQL or SQLite) as the central point of communication between all components.
Modoboa was developed with modularity in mind, making it very easy to extend, and it is open source. In fact, all current features are extensions. It is written in Python 3 and uses the Django, jQuery and Bootstrap frameworks.
The main features include a web administration panel, reputation protection with DNSBL checks, DMARC reports and more. Also included are an Amavis frontend, webmail, a calendar, an address book, per-user Sieve filters, automatic reply messages for Postfix and
graphical statistics on email traffic.
Installation
First, you will need to create the server using the Debian or Ubuntu image, then connect via SSH to the machine (Modoboa's minimum requirements are two cores with 2 GB of RAM and 10 GB of disk space).
Once logged in as the root user, change the hostname to match the record if you did not assign it during creation:
# hostnamectl set-hostname mail.ejemplo.comOnce it has been changed and the DNS A record has been created, install the following dependencies:
# apt install git gnupg2 curl python3-virtualenv python3-pip -yNext, clone Modoboa from the official Github repository:
# git clone https://github.com/modoboa/modoboa-installerGo to the installer directory:
# cd modoboa-installerAnd install it using the Python script (remember to change the example domain):
# ./run.py ejemplo.comThe installation process will start, but double-check that you have created the records and continue the installation:
