By default, once HestiaCP is installed, you access the panel with the admin user. To start creating your Web, domain, e-mail accounts, DB, etc. - We should not do it from the admin user account. It is important to create a new user and log in to create our domain.
Note
It is not recommended to use the "admin" user account for security reasons: It is strongly recommended to create a standard user account before adding web domains to the server due to the increased privileges of the administrator account and the possible security risks.
And if we try to create a DB or a domain from the "admin" user session, we may encounter the following:
- It does not allow to create a DB and a warning "You have reached the DB limit" appears.
- When trying to create a domain a warning appears indicating "It is not allowed to create it with the admin user, try again with another user".
Here's how to create a user so you can start creating your website, how to log in with your new user and how to create a domain from your user account.
How to create a user in HestiaCP
From the HestiaCP panel we can create a user by clicking on the "Add User" button: (To access the HestiaCP dashboard you can follow this guide: Access HestiaCP dashboard)
Once the user has been created, you can log in as follows without having to log out of the "admin" user. When you hover over the created user, several icons will appear, if you click on the first icon, you log in with the new user. This is shown in the following image:
If you want to make sure that you are logged in with the new user, if the Users section does not appear in the menu, it means that you are not logged in with the "admin" user.
The user name of the logged-in session is displayed at the top above the menu, as you can see in the following image:
Now you will be able to create databases and install applications from the Quick install App, etc.
How to create a domain
To create a domain it is advisable, for security reasons, not to do it from the admin user as we indicated at the beginning of this article. In this example, we explain how to create a domain. After logging in with the new user created, from the "WEB" section you will be able to create the domain by clicking on "Add domain".
Just fill in the "Domain" field without checking any checkbox (in order not to create DNS zones and activate the mail service automatically):
