If we have a Private Network (VPC) created and configured in our Clouding panel, we can later assign it to a server. If you do not yet have a Private Network (VPC) created, you can do so by following our tutorial How to add a Private Network (VPC).
For this article, we will use our created Private Network (VPC) named VPC_DATABASE as you can see below and assign it to a server.
Assign a Private Network (VPC) to a server
We will click on My Servers where all our servers will be listed, and we will click on the name of the server to which we want to assign the Private Network (VPC). Then we will go to the Network section of the server, which is where Private Networks (VPC) and Firewall profiles are managed.
As we can see on this server, we have a public IP and no connected Private Network (VPC). To add a Private Network (VPC), we will click on the add button, and a modal will open:
By default, two tabs will appear to configure the Private Network (VPC), depending on what we want to do, we will choose one or the other:
If we do not have any Private Network (VPC) created in the My Private Networks (VPC) section, the option to activate the Private Network will appear. This Private Network (VPC) is created automatically and is in the range 10.20.10.0/24.
If you have previously created a Private Network (VPC) and set it as the default Private Network (VPC), it will appear for you to directly assign that Private Network (VPC).
If we have not created any Private Network (VPC), to activate the private network on the server, we must select the option Activate private network and then click Send:
A Private Network (VPC) will be automatically created and a private network IP will be assigned instantly:
If we now go to the My Private Networks section, we will see that a Private Network (VPC) named Default has been created:
In advanced mode, if we have not previously created any Private Network (VPC), we will see that the list of Select Private Network (VPC) is empty, and we have the option to Create a new Private Network (VPC).
By clicking on Create a new Private Network (VPC), a new modal will open where you can create the Private Network (VPC). If you need to know how to create a Private Network (VPC), we leave you this other tutorial that explains how to fill in all the necessary information: How to add a Private Network (VPC).
Once we have the Private Network (VPC) selected, the DHCP server will automatically assign an IP from the range to the server. If we want this server to have a specific IP from the range, we can activate the option Use a specific IP address and assign the IP:
Finally, we can select the Firewall profiles that we want to assign to the selected Private Network (VPC):
Once we have added all the information, we will submit it by clicking the Send button, and we can see that an IP from the assigned range has been configured:
