To enable passive ports in mIRC when using DCC (Direct Client-to-Client) to send and receive files, follow these steps:
Enable Passive DCC
Open mIRC and go to the options menu. In the toolbar, click on "Tools" → "Options" and access the DCC settings.
In the left panel, expand the "DCC" option and select "Options".
Check the "Passive DCCs" box.
This will allow DCC connections to be initiated by the other user, which is useful if you are behind a firewall or router that blocks incoming connections.
Configure Passive Ports
Go to "DCC" → "Server" and enable "Enable DCC Server".
Then, in "Connect" → "Options" → "Ports...", set a range of ports for incoming connections.
A recommended range is 5000-5010, but you can choose others.
Note
If you use a firewall - such as the one in Clouding -, make sure to open the selected ports. You can find more information on how to create rules for specific ports in the following article: How to create a firewall rule
Once everything is configured, accept the changes in mIRC and try sending a file to another user or receiving one via DCC.
