At Clouding, we have integrated the perimeter protection system from Path, a specialized solution for attack mitigation and network-level traffic control. This integration allows you to filter malicious connections before they reach your server, enhancing the security and availability of your services, especially in environments where network stability is critical, such as game servers or publicly exposed services.
What is Path?
Path is a perimeter filtering and attack mitigation platform that offers:
- Real-time DDoS detection and mitigation.
- Filtering by CIDR or ASN.
- Custom filters for gaming traffic, allowing blocking of certain ports or protocols commonly used in attacks.
Clouding now incorporates this technology directly into the perimeter network, with no additional configuration required from the client.
How does filtering work?
For servers with anti-DDoS filtering enabled, traffic passes through Path's network, where it is analyzed in real time. If attack patterns or suspicious traffic are detected, the system can:
- Automatically block malicious traffic.
- Apply specific rules by port, network, or protocol.
This results in significantly reduced server load and increased stability for exposed services.
Features available at Clouding
Edge Firewall
This feature allows defining network-level rules directly at the perimeter:
- Allow or block traffic by IP ranges or ASN.
- Simple management interface from the Clouding panel.
For example, you can block traffic from a specific network due to its reliability and allow the rest. For more details on how it works, check out our article create a rule in Edge Firewall.
Edge Filters
Especially designed for clients hosting game servers, this option allows filtering specific traffic at the port level used by well-known games:
- Blocking of ports associated with exploits or common gaming attacks.
- Only allowing traffic on ports related to your game (e.g., ARK, Minecraft, Rust, CS:GO, etc.).
Reduces unwanted traffic without affecting the experience of legitimate players. For more info, check out our article create a filter in Edge Filters.
