By default, PHP limits the maximum file upload size to 2MB. Horde reads this value and displays it in the dialog box.
To change the attachment limit in Horde, you will need to edit some values in your server's php.ini file, as outlined in the following steps:
- Access your server via SSH as the “root” user
-
Once logged in to your server, you will need to edit the following variables in your php.ini file:
upload_max_filesize = 2M post_max_size = 8M- upload_max_filesize: You will need to replace 2M with the maximum attachment size you want to allow in megabytes
- post_max_size: You will need to replace 8M with the desired maximum size in MB + the size of the PHP form (e.g., message text)
-
There are other limits that also affect the maximum attachment size PHP can handle, which you should review to ensure that your changes work correctly:
max_execution_time = 30 memory_limit = 64M- max_execution_time = 30: If you want to increase the upload limit in PHP, you will also need to increase this value depending on the maximum number of bytes set above, since this variable specifies the maximum execution time of a script in seconds
- memory_limit = 64M: You should also increase this value, since it controls the maximum memory a script can consume
-
Once you have made the changes, you will need to restart the server's web service. You can usually do this with one of these commands:
# systemctl restart apache2Or:
# systemctl restart httpd
