If you receive the error “No data was received to import. Either no file name was submitted, or the file size exceeded the maximum size permitted by your PHP configuration. See FAQ 1.16.” when trying to import your database through phpMyAdmin on a server with the VestaCP control panel, the size of the database you want to import probably exceeds the limits configured on your server.
But don't worry, this is easy to fix. You simply need to increase the values of post_max_size and upload_max_filesize. You can do this as follows:
- Access your server through SSH as the “root“ user
-
Open the php.ini file, which is usually located at /etc/php5/apache2/php.ini, to increase the post_max_size and upload_max_filesize values.
Additional Information
You can find more information about where to find your server's php.ini file in the article:
File
File: php.ini
post_max_size = 64Mupload_max_filesize = 64MNote
In this example, we have set the maximum file size to 64Mb, which is already a good size for a database, but you can specify whatever value you need.
- To apply these changes, all you need to do is restart Apache. You can do this with one of the following commands, depending primarily on your server's distribution.
RedHat-based distributions
# /etc/init.d/httpd restart
# service httpd restartDebian-based distributions
# /etc/init.d/apache2 restart
# service apache2 restart
