Sometimes it happens that we can lose remote access to our server. For these cases you have available the Emergency Console that will allow you to access the server from the Clouding panel itself.
Accessing the Emergency Console
Once logged into the Clouding Portal, we will go to the list of our servers and click on the name of our server.
In this section there is all the information of our server, to access to the Emergency Console we will click on the blue button that says "Emergency Console":
After pressing the button, it will load something similar to this -depending on the operating system you have, you will see something different-:
- No. 1: This is the Emergency Console itself, it is the equivalent of a monitor, keyboard and mouse connected directly to your Cloud Server.
- No. 2: It is the button to send to the server CONTROL + ALT + DEL to unlock Windows or to restart (if executed several times).
- No. 3: It is the gray bar that allows us to write in the Emergency Console (click on it).
Log on to Windows Server
In order to access Windows Server, we must first click on the CONTROL + ALT + DEL button to unlock the operating system:
After unlocking Windows, we have to click the gray bar, to capture the keyboard and mouse, and then we can type the server password.
Important Information
Please note that if your password has special characters, you must configure the keyboard with the EN (English UK) keyboard layout. To do this you will need to configure the keyboard of your local computer.
IMPORTANT
Being a VNC console, it is not possible to paste the password as we usually do with CTRL + V or with any mouse key. So the password has to be typed manually.
Login to Ubuntu/Debian/CentOS
To log in to a Linux, we only have to click on the gray bar, to capture the keyboard and mouse, and then we can type the user and password:
Important Information
When typing the password you will probably see that you are not typing anything, in reality you will be typing, because on UNIX based systems when typing the password the characters are not displayed. Note that if your password has special characters, you must configure the keyboard with the EN (English UK) keyboard layout. To do this you will need to configure the keyboard on your local computer.
IMPORTANT
As this is a VNC console, it is not possible to paste the password as we usually do with CTRL + V or with any mouse key. So the password has to be typed manually.
