To import a website from the server with cPanel, you will need to follow a series of steps: create a backup of the cPanel user, download that backup, and import the data to ISPManager.
Below, the detailed steps to perform this migration will be explained.
Before Starting the Migration
If you import a reseller to ISPManager, the user role will change from "Reseller" to "User."
Prepare the Source Server
First, we need to access the cPanel from which we intend to migrate the data to ISPManager.
Once inside cPanel, we must go to Packages → Edit Package → Edit.
We need to ensure that the account limits are not set to 0.
Export the Required Data from cPanel
IMPORTANT
Before creating the backup, ensure there is enough free space on both the source and destination servers. If there is not enough space, the servers may become overloaded and stop working.
Log in to cPanel - entering the server IP address and port 2083 - and navigate to Control Panel → Files → Backup.
Once inside this section, click the button Download a Full Account Backup.
Select the option "Backup (SCP)" to proceed with creating a remote backup from the source server to the destination server. After selecting the above option, ensure that you correctly enter the following data for the destination server:
Once the data has been entered, click the button "Generate Backup" and the backup process will begin. You can also choose to enter an email address to be notified when the backup is complete (recommended option, as otherwise, you will not receive any completion notification in the graphical interface).
Import the Data into ISPManager
IMPORTANT
Before starting the user import, ensure that the following components are installed on the destination server for the import to succeed:
- Web server (WWW)
- Mail server
- Name server (DNS) if you have your own DNS servers
- FTP server and DBMS (database management system)
- PHP versions required for the website to function
To import the data copied directly from cPanel, go to Administration → User Import.
Select "From local file or directory."
Now, go to the location of the backup file downloaded from cPanel and accept to start the restoration of the backup.
