When you use ISPmanager to upload and download files from a domain, passive FTP can be a very practical and simple option since this panel is configured for its use by default.
By default, passive FTP in ISP is already enabled, and the server’s Firewall, in our image, allows all traffic. The only thing you need to do is add the ports that come pre-configured in ISPmanager 35000 - 35999 in the Clouding Firewall.
Create FTP Users
If you are using a non-root user, you will have the option to add users on the left under FTP users, where you will find the button Add an FTP user:
In this section, you will only have the option to set the name (the username used to connect), the password, and the directory where you want to jail the FTP user.
In the case of the root user, the FTP users option is located inside Navigation board (found in the left menu). Once there, you will have the option to add an FTP user for root, but you will also see all FTP users of other users in ISP.
With the root user, you will have an extra "Owner" option. This option allows you to create an FTP user for any of the ISP users.
Configure Passive Mode
Once you have created the user, you only need to configure the Clouding Firewall rules. Go to your Clouding account, navigate to "My Firewalls," select the profile your server is using, and add the following Firewall rule:
Once this is done, you will be able to access your FTP user with passive ports more efficiently and securely.
