Some of you have asked us many times for the option to have a desktop environment alongside Ubuntu. For several months now, we have had such an image available, and in the following tutorial, we will explain how to connect using Remote Desktop depending on your device's operating system.
To connect to a Cloud Ubuntu Desktop server on Clouding, you need to run the Remote Desktop program from your computer. You can find it at Start > Windows Accessories > Remote Desktop Connection or you can simply search for Remote Desktop using the search tool.
Create a Connection to Our Server
If we open the Remote Desktop Connection program, a small window like the following will appear:
In the Computer field, you will need to enter the public IP address of your server. If you do not know your server’s IP address, you can follow these steps to find your server’s IP address.
Once you have your server’s public IP address, copy it into the Computer: field:
When you click Connect, a warning will likely appear, which you should accept. After connecting, a screen like this will appear:
Here, you should enter the username xrdpuser and the password assigned to the root user during the server creation process, which should have been sent to your email. After entering the credentials, click OK and you should be connected:
After connecting for the first time, click on Use default config and you will be ready to use Ubuntu Desktop.
