If you need to compress files into TAR.GZ (among other formats) in a Windows environment, you will need to use third-party applications, as this is not possible using the operating system itself.
PeaZip
In this article, we will explain how to use the application PeaZip, which allows you to compress, extract and archive files and, above all, create TAR archives and compress them with GZ, which is quite unusual on an operating system such as Windows.
PeaZip is a free and open-source program, allowing you to use it in professional environments at no cost and edit its source code if needed.
One of its main features is the ability to create archives in the formats 7Z, BZ2, GZ, PAQ/LPAQ, PEA, QUAD, TAR, UPX, ZIP and open ACE, ARJ, CAB, DEB, ISO, LHA, RAR, RPM, among others.
This application can be used on both Windows and Linux and is simple and intuitive to use.
You can find help for the application on the program's website here, and download it from its official website.
