When browsing the internet, we may end up visiting an infected website with viruses, malware, or other threats that affect the security and integrity of our data. A recurring case is opening a malicious email, clicking the link provided, and accessing a website that infects us with a virus, malware, etc...
With 1.1.1.1 for Families from Cloudflare, we can protect ourselves from many malicious or infected websites because it adds an intermediate layer between our connection and the destination and blocks access to known malicious sites automatically. It also includes adult content filtering to prevent access to these pages.
Below, we show you how to configure 1.1.1.1 for Families on a Windows server to make browsing the internet more secure. Making this change can be ideal on terminal servers where users work directly with their user accounts and have access to Office, Edge, Firefox, etc.
Disable IPv6
To avoid problems with name resolution, we will disable IPv6 on our network adapter. To do this, click inicio and open the panel de control.
Next, click Redes e Internet.
Open the Centro de redes y recursos compartidos.
And click Cambiar configuración del adaptador.
Double-click the public network adapter on our VPS server to edit the adapter properties.
In the list, clear the Internet Protocol Version 6 checkbox.
Add Cloudflare DNS servers to block malware and adult content
Continuing from where we left off previously, double-click Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4).
And edit the DNS settings to use the IP addresses 1.1.1.3 and 1.0.0.3. Accept the changes, and Cloudflare's malware and adult content blocking filter is now configured.
If we only want malware protection, we must specify the IP addresses 1.1.1.2 and 1.0.0.2
