On many occasions, you’ve asked us about how to connect to Windows servers from a mobile device.
Here we explain how this is possible using the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP). To do this, you can use the official apps developed by Microsoft, available in the respective app stores.
Android Device
To connect to a Windows server on Clouding using an Android device, you’ll need to download and install the app called Windows App from the Play Store.
iOS Device
If you have an Apple mobile device, you can download and install the app Windows App from the App Store.
App Configuration
Once installed on your device from the respective store, open the app and select the "PC Connection" option.
Once you’re on the screen for adding the device, in the corresponding section, add the IP address or the record pointing to your respective server:
Finally, when you want to connect to the server, you’ll need to accept the server’s certificate.
You can now continue using your Windows VPS server from your mobile device!
Warning
For security reasons, you’ll need to allow/check the corresponding ports in your Clouding panel firewall for the network you’re using, as well as in the system’s firewall if it’s enabled. If you’re not using a VPN connection, create the rule only for the public IP addresses that should connect (the default ports are 3389 TCP/UDP).
You can find more information on how to protect yourself in our article Protecting RDP from Brute Force Attacks.
