Sometimes, when accessing our panel to manage the server, whether it is Plesk, HestiaCP or another panel, we will need to accept an invalid certificate. The same applies to some applications, such as WireGuard or pfSense.
This browser warning appears because we access these applications over HTTPS using the IP address.
IP addresses cannot be secured with a certificate, as an SSL certificate can only be signed for a domain.
This is why the browser displays a warning about a "potential security risk", as entering sensitive data is not advisable when using a website without properly configured SSL (the green padlock).
In this tutorial, we will explain how to accept the invalid certificate in different browsers to access the application.
When you access the application using the IP address over HTTPS, the following screen will appear:
