Sometimes we have customers who try our servers and are so satisfied that they decide to migrate the services they have with other providers to our platform. That’s why we created this tutorial explaining how to migrate a server if you use Plesk. If you don’t use Plesk and you ended up here, you may want to check this other tutorial.
Configure the migration in Plesk
After creating the Plesk server in Clouding.io, go to Tools & Settings > Tools & Resources > Migration & Transfer Manager and click the Start a New Migration button:
Fill in the source server details as follows:
- Panel type: Plesk for Linux
- Address: IP address of the source server
- Root username: root
- Root password: Root password
- SSH port: 22
- Temp directory: /root/plesk_migrator
Once all the data has been entered, click Prepare Migration to launch the migration wizard:
When this process finishes (it may take a few minutes), you will see the following:
Here you can choose what you want to migrate: a subscription, a user, a reseller, or a hosting plan. Generally, websites are organized by subscriptions, so after selecting that option you will see a list of all subscriptions in your Plesk. Select the subscriptions you want to migrate and move them to the list on the right:
For the subscriptions you want to migrate, you can also choose what you want to migrate to the new server in Clouding.io. If you only want to migrate email, leave the Migrate mail messages option selected. But if you also want to migrate the websites and databases, select all options. Finally, click Migrate to start the Plesk-to-Plesk migration.
Once Plesk Migrator finishes checking that everything is correct, it will show a report with issues or warnings. If everything is correct, click Start Migration.
After the migration process, a notification will appear indicating that the migration has completed successfully:
Now, if you go to Websites & Domains you will see that the subscriptions have been migrated correctly:
