To prevent Terminal Server or Remote Desktop (RDP) sessions from closing due to inactivity, you need to enable the KeepAlive option from Terminal Services. To activate this option, simply follow the steps explained below.
Disable disconnection due to inactivity
Access your server via Remote Desktop as the user “Administrator”.

At the "Type here to search" bar type gpedit.msc and click at the best match found gpedit.msc.
The Local Group Policy Editor will display. Now, navigate to Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Terminal Services.
In the right panel, double-click on “Keep-Alive Connections“.
Select the option “Enabled" and click “OK" to save the changes.
In newer versions of Windows, the location of this policy has been modified, and it can be found under Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Session Time Limits.
At the right panel, double-click on "Set time limit for disconnected sessions".
Select the option "Enabled" and under "Options > End Disconnected Session", set it to "Never".
