ServerPilot is a service that offers a control panel in PHP for managing Cloud Servers like those we offer at Clouding.io. This panel has an optimised configuration to speed up CMS (WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, Prestashop, etc.).
ServerPilot has a software stack consisting of Apache2, PHP (in different versions), MySQL and Nginx and, thanks to this and a very good configuration, makes your websites lightning fast.
At present, this panel can only be used on Ubuntu 16.04 (and also with Ubuntu 18.04), so you will need to launch a machine with that image to run ServerPilot.
Install ServerPilot on a Clouding.io VPS
After registering on the ServerPilot website, we will create a server with the Ubuntu 16.04 image in our Clouding.io account. Once the server has been created, we will connect our server to ServerPilot:
To connect it, we simply need to enter our server's IP address and the password for root:
After clicking the “Connect to ServerPilot” button, the service will contact our server and connect via SSH to install the panel:
The installation process may take a few minutes:
Once the installation is complete, we can create an APP and configure our websites.
Create an APP in ServerPilot
Once we have connected to the server and the panel has been installed, we can create Apps on our server. Simply click the button “Create APP“:
At present, ServerPilot only offers the option to install WordPress; however, if we do not select the option for WordPress, we can connect via SFTP to copy the files for our website or our favourite CMS.
To create a new APP, we will need to enter the details shown in the following image: an APP name, domain, PHP version, server and user. If we select the option for WordPress, we will need to configure the login user.
Once we click “Create APP”, our WordPress will be installed on our server, and we can then access it through the domain we selected during configuration.
