On the Clouding platform you have at your disposal an advanced backup system so that the data of your Cloud Servers is always protected.
What are they for?
You can keep a history of your server that will protect and ensure the continuity of your project.
You will be more protected against intrusions, viruses or cryptolockers, ransomware, software problems, accidental deletions or any other eventuality that may affect the integrity of your data.
How do I set it up?
It's very simple, you can set up the backup service for your cloud servers hosted in Clouding in a few seconds. And you can do it right now from your control panel!
To set them up you just have to choose:
- The number of copies: the minimum is 2 and the maximum 30.
- The frequency: how often the backup will be made of your cloud server.
- The options are every day, every 2 days, 3, 4, 5, 6 or every week.
For example, if you select 30 copies on a daily basis, a copy of your server will be made every day and you can return it to the state it had during any of the last 30 days. If you choose 4 copies on a weekly basis, only one copy will be made every 7 days and therefore there will be more changes on your server between each copy.
We recommend that you adjust these values based on each one when your server data changes. For example, if you have an e-commerce with a lot of traffic, we recommend you backup every day and save at least 7 backups. If you have a static website, it may be enough to save a copy every week.
What price is it?
We have created a very simple, predictable and affordable price scheme. So even if you have a tight budget, you can still enjoy our backup service for your Cloud Server.
The price is € 0.02 per GB per month (which works out at € 0.0000274 per hour per GB).
The price is defined based on the size of your disk and how many copies you want to have.
Here are some examples of prices, in case you still have any questions:
- 10GB Disk
- One weekly backup
- 4 weeks historic
- Price per hour: €0.001096
- Monthly equivalent: €0.80
- 10GB Disk
- Daily backup
- 7 days historic
- Price per hour: €0.001918
- Monthly equivalent: €1.40
- 100GB Disk
- Daily backup
- 7 days historic
- Price per hour: €0.01918
- Monthly equivalent: €14
Therefore, the formula would be:
(Disk size of your server x Number of backups to save) x € 0.02
The frequency does not affect the price: a Server with a 50GB disk for which you choose 4 backups on a weekly basis has a price of € 4. If you choose the same backup number but set the frequency as daily, the price will be the same: € 4.
What data is copied?
The backup is done at a low level, reading the complete disk of your Cloud Server from our high-performance distributed storage system.
In other words, not only are some files or data are saved, but the entire disk is saved, including absolutely all data, settings, permissions, etc. that you may have configured.
Can I restore only one file?
Yes and no. Our platform makes a complete copy of your cloud server disk, reading it directly from our high-performance cloud storage. In this way, we do not depend on any software installed on your server to make the copy. This has the advantage that backups will always be done, whatever you have installed on your server or even if it is turned off. The disadvantage is that we cannot restore a single file, since we perform a “block” level backup that does not understand what it copies.
So you can recover a single file, we have included a very useful option: you can create a server from a backup! In this way, if you want to extract a single file, all you have to do is create a new server from the copy where the file you want to recover is located, connect to it to extract the file and then delete it. As in Clouding you only pay for the seconds you use the server, it will hardly cost you a few tenths of a cent!
How does it work? Is it safe?
Backups are stored in an object storage completely independent of the main storage system. This system is distributed among different servers and keeps three replicas of each backup. Therefore, even if a storage server fails, your backups are still saved, available and secure.
Both the system architecture that stores your server's disk - with triple replication - and the one that stores the backups are similar in “conception” and design. So both guarantee that your data will always be available, even if an element of the platform fails. However, both systems are independent of each other, to prevent a failure in one from spreading to the other.

From your control panel you can manage your backups easily and safely. Remember that you can change the configuration - or disable backups - at any time: we adapt to you 🙂
