Your security is one of Clouding's number one priorities. Two-Factor Authentication is a feature in your control panel that allows you to secure your account with an additional verification code that changes every 30 seconds.
In this article we'll show you how to set up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) to protect your Clouding account.
First, to access the 2FA settings, go to your control panel, click on the "Account" tab and click on "Security". Then, click on "Configure".
The first step is to install an application to generate TOTP 2FA codes on your phone or computer. You'll see that we recommend some, such as Google Authenticator, Aegis or FreeOTP. Once you've installed the application you have chosen to configure your 2FA, click on "Next".
An important notice regarding losing your code is displayed on the next screen. If you lose the access code to your Authentication application, you won't be able to access your Clouding account. If you lose it, we'll have to deactivate the 2FA system for your account, which is a manual process that can take several days. Please, read it carefully and to finish, click on the box that says: "I understand that I may temporarily lose access to my account." Then, click on "Next".
To continue, scan the QR code on the screen shown with the application you've installed:
If you can't scan the code, click on the question "Aren't you able to scan the QR?" The system will offer you the option to manually enter a code that it provides you. You'll have to follow these steps:
- Add the e-mail of your Clouding account.
- Select the time-based code option.
- Write the indicated code without blanks.
Then, click on "I added the code":
On the next screen, enter the 6-digit code generated by the application and click on "Verify".
In the next step, a code will be displayed that we recommend you keep in a safe place. Remember that if you don't have your 2FA code, you'll have to ask us to manually reset your account. This reset requires you to the send documentation to verify your account, which may take over a week.
Once you're done, click on the tab that says: "I have kept this code in a safe place" and last, click on "Next".
To complete the last step, click on "Activate 2FA and logout".
In the next few seconds, you'll receive a confirmation email confirming that Two-Factor Authentication has been activated on your account.
With this last step, the system will log you out of your session and you will have to re-identify yourself using the 2FA code generated by your application.
When you re-enter the control panel, you'll see that Two-Factor Authentication is now listed as Enabled. After doing this, click on "Deactivate".
To confirm the 2FA deactivation, the system will ask you to enter the TOTP code. After doing this, click on "Confirm and deactivate".
Congratulations! You now know how to set up Two-Factor Authentication on your account.
Note
If you want to set up the 2FA in several devices, you only have to scan the QR code or insert the given code in each device.
