Clouding is committed to preventing unwanted login attempts, so each time you log in with your user account, verification is requested via a 6-character code sent to your email, or alternatively by the authentication application if you have 2FA (Two Factor Authentication) enabled.
Enabling the ‘Trust this device’ option will allow you to remember that login on the device you are currently logged into for 30 days.
Browser cookies save the record for that period of time so you don't have to re-enter the verification code.
There are occasions when you are asked for the code again before the 30 days have elapsed even though you have clicked on the ‘Trust this device’ option. This can happen due to a number of factors such as:
- Third-party software that removes any cookies, cache, temporary files and tracking from your computer (e.g. CCleaner).
- Cookie deletion settings on closing the browser
The configuration of cookies in browsers is done in the privacy options of each browser. To do this you can follow the instructions specified by each browser: Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge and Safari.
- Open Microsoft Edge, then select More > Settings > Cookies and Site Permissions.
- Select Cookies and site data. Here you can set specific controls for cookies.
- Select Manage and delete cookies and site data.
- Enable the Allow sites to save and read cookie data option.
- On your computer, open Chrome.
- At the top right, click More > Settings.
- Under ‘Privacy and security’, click on Third-party cookies.
- Select the option: Allow third party cookies.
You can access your Firefox Options to manage cookies as follows:
- Click the Menu button and select Settings.
- Select the Privacy & Security panel.
- Go to Cookies and site data and select ‘Manage exceptions...’.
- Enter the Clouding URL and click Allow.
1. In the Safari app on your Mac, select Safari > Preferences, then click Privacy.
2. Uncheck ‘Block all cookies’. Websites you visit, third parties, and advertisers may store cookies and other data on your Mac.
The user should be aware that IP changes on the same device or editing the session cookie ID may result in Clouding asking for the verification code again.
If you have any questions about 2FA, feel free to contact us at support@clouding.io, we'll be happy to help you!😊
